Boiler Socket Causing trouble

Hi All,

I've just moved the socket which the timer controls of my boiler use.

It was previously a single socket but I wanted to make it a double, I moved the socket about 2ft higher and shortened the flex of the timer controls.

When I turned the power back on the lights on the control unit showed and I programmed all the times back in. However when the boiler was due to go on, it didn't fire up. The pilot light showed and the ignition just kept on going.

I took the plug out of the new socket and used an extension lead to plug it into another socket. The boiler then fired up properly.

The boiler is an old Balmoral 45F and the timer control is a Randall 702.


The thing is, the new socket works fine as other appliances run ok on it.

Does anyone have any ideas please?

Perhaps you've cocked up the Live and Neutral wiring on the new socket.
