Hi

Need some help with laying new tiles on my kitchen floor (just moved into the flat).

Currently I have 3mm ceramic tiles (common in council houses) on my kitchen floor, which easily break and come loose and in some areas there are no tiles at all (Assuming work units where previously removed). I thought i could just get some replacement tiles and laythem down, but the council say they no longer produce them.

So i thought it would probably be best to lay some new ones down - but in doing this i am unsure what to do next.

Under the tiles is a concrete floor - but should i use a self levelling compound once the tiles are removed or just scrape the adhesive as much as i can, they apply new adhesive for new tiles?

Also do i remove the skirting and the wall fixed work units to lay self levelling/tiles or work around them - however i do intend to refit the kitchen in a years time?

Also how easy is it to use self levelling compund for a diy noobie like me?

Thanks - any help will be appreciated
