Programmer packed up today. No water or CH ordered a new one but mey not come until after XMAS. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to hot wire the terminals to temporarily keep the heating and water running. If so which terminals(marked 1-8 on the baseboard. Otherwise maybe a cold XMAS any help appreciated.

Try ringing around the local plumbers merchants, even electrical wholesalers (particularly the independants) may be able to help you.

Or do you have a screwfix nearby? searching their website brings one up.

As for hotwiring a heating system, yes, I'm not going to advise you go down that road, it would just be easier to install a new programmer that you can obtain more easily, however, doing anything other than changing the control (same backplate) is notifiable works, and besides, I wouldn't reccomend anyone leaping straight into CH wiring!

Yes thanks will try tomorrow as its not too cold tonight. I do a lot of DIY and just thought it may be easy just as a purely temp measure to hot wire, but I really do not want to mess with the terminals without knowing which to wire together.

If you're desperate, have a look at the installation manual. If you don't have it, you can download one from Screwfix. If you understand the wiring diagrams, you can work out exactly what to do.
