I have just moved house and the new house has switches with no use such as a triple switch wired up with one of them not turning anything on or off.

I have a double in the bedroom the same to.

Is there anyway of tracing them or should I just change the triple for a double and the double for a single and cap off the spare wires.

I can't ask the previous owner as he is in prison due to the house being a court snatch back due to criminal activities.

hi take the fronts off and see if they have switch lines connected
have a look you may have small 3 amp round pin sockets
for lamps controlled by the switch

They do have wires connected. no 3 amp round pin sockets around though.
house was built in 1970 but has had work done in the past.

I assume that the cables went to lights somewhere but have been left in the ceiling.
