There is always a big bang in the pipes after shutting the kitchen tap. It only happens when we use the hot water. The hot water flows from the main service valve which is behind the washing machine, see pic1, then it continues until it enters the hot water storage take, see pic 2,3, 4 and 5 in sequence . Then it leaves the hot water storage tank from the top as hot water which is shows in the insulated pipe of pic 6 where it is reduced to 15mm from 22mm as it enters the ducting. There is a network of 15mm pipes going around the house to feed 3 showers and a kitchen. Any idea how to stop this water hummer please

It could be on your unvented cylinder side, which would require a service. It could also be loose pipework.

The irony is it does not happen very often; it happens now and then. It happened this afternoon, then soon after that I keep testing it has not happened again since.
