Hi Im in need of help i have a potterton 80 f boiler. Open vented fully pumped system. my problem is when the heating is on i get air in the system. But i have checked for leaks and only found a small sign of scale at the joint to the boiler on the flow pipe.someone suggested the problem was sludge so i put a couple of bottles of x400 in been in for 4 days. Now it runs for about 3hrs bangs like the clappers and steam comes up through the vent pipe and the boiler cuts out.Its fine on hot water only. Also the pipe work is quite noisy on heating.many thanks

Sounds like lots of sludge. Heat system up, then drain. Repeat til water stays clean. add cleaner to system, hyperflush is best, fernox and sentinel also good, cheap no name are cheap
