I was googling for information before and an address came up which purported to have what I wanted. I clicked on it, and like a fool ran the active x object thingy.
Now my computer is being taken over by antispyware stuff.
I managed to get into add & remove programs and deleted it, but it's come back.
It's called virusresponse and keeps bringing up screens all over the place.
How can I get shut of it, and why aren't these people locked up?
Before anyone asks, it was nothing exciting like porn I was looking for, it was info on how to do a cam belt change on a nissan vanette.
Never got that niether, had to try and suss it myself.
Any help would be really appreciated especially as I am a computer dimwit.

You ran the active X my friend....

To be fair if the website owner placed the active X you probably lost all rights upon entering the website under his terms and conditions - although a lot of these issues are inserted maliciously without the owners knowledge.

Update for anyone else who kops for this virus.
I found a site called computerheaven were they were on about a program called Malwarebytes. So i downloaded that and ran it in safe mode, seems to have done the trick.

You can say that again, the vanette has a mid engine, access cr4p from underneath. Trying to get the belt back on while holding the pump sprocket and twisting the tensioner, while in a half lying half sitting position underneath in the bleedin rain. Magical day
