I would suggest that you build it a little higher than 6".
If you're referring to the footings, then you're way too shallow. Or is that the way it is in USA?

Is this a base slab for a timber framed or sectional garage you are talking about?
Also bear in mind that if your floor area is 26 feet by 16 feet then you are over the 30m^2 limit and you will have to build it to building regs which will complicate things quite a bit.
