hide waste pipe

hello all, i'm currently renovating my bathroom and want to the waste/drain(?) pipe behind the sink. i'm going to be lifting up the tiles and can chase into the walls as will be adding panels later. my question is, can i hide this pipe behind the wall, if so, what would this require, and it is advisable to do, ie are there issues with it being in an enclosed space?

Don't complicate things.
That pipe is behind the sink and won't be too visible.
In fact, if you go for a vanity unit, it will be invisible.

You are probably only noticing it because of the black pipe. Can you replace that for white? Our soil pipe for toilet used to be black and that really stood out as well.

What type of basin will you be installing? Same one?

At some point in the future you will need access to the pipe, so allow for a removable panel/unit.

If using same type of Basin, bring the pipe forward from the wall at floor level using 2x 45° bends, and then bring the pipe up within the pedestal, then use a Pedestal trap to keep it all hidden.

lol i have been guilty of working pretty late but i don't think i'd have the energy at that time!

unfortunately my bathroom is tiny, and vanity unit(unless the size of a pedestal) is out of the question

i could replace with white, do be honest i've seen bathrooms where the pipe goes into the wall, it looks better but probably maintenance is a pain

Yes the pipe can be hid in the wall if you really want. You will need to use solvent weld pipe, extend the pipe in the floor back and then a swept elbow up, bring it up to the level of the outflow of the trap and then and another swept elbow and bring the pipe out so when you replace the basin and pedestal the pipe can be cut to length to fit into the trap. then close the floor and the wall back up.

Alternatively @Hugh Jaleak 's option is the best way to hide the pipe and straight through or pedestal trap into the space at the back of the pedestal without opening up the wall.

ok so reflection, this sounds like a good compromise

just a couple of question on this.

when you create 2 90deg bends, are there any issues with air trapping the water, or issues of that nature?
when you ssay a pedestal trap, are you talking about something like this:


are these just as effective as normal s traps in trapping water, preventing foul smells coming back up?
