Hiding central heating pipework

Good day all.

I was hoping that some people could provide me with some decorating tips.

I recently bought an ex-council property in a block of flats, solid concrete floor, and brick/ black breeze block walls.

Central heating had been installed prior to us moving in, and the pipe work has been trailed along the bottom of the walls just above the skirting board.

We are currently in the process of redecorating, and were hoping that some people may have found an effective means of either hiding or decorating this pipe work (as it really is rather ugly).

Any thoughts or tips would be much appreciated.

That doesn't sound too good - I think I'd be inclined to paint it the same colour as the wall.
