I have a Hikvision CCTV IP addressable NVR system (model DS-7616NXI-K2/16P) with 10 cameras (capable of 16) and possibly a 8gb or 10gb drive. Had it professionally installed by the installer is difficult to get hold of.

Since about July, when I try to view historical recordings on my phone, the green dot that appears against historical dates does not appear until some few minutes after I am playing with the app or trying to view footage. its as if there is no historical recording except for today. Also when I can view recordings for yesterday or few days earlier, it only shows it starting from midnight and I cant scroll forward through the day. After a few minutes the dots will appear against the historical dates (I can usually access about 3 weeks of footage given my capacity drive) and can scroll through the time lapse of the days. It's as if there is a lap before the historical footage appears. My questions are:

1. Would formatting the drive help clear any issues? The firmware software on the NVR is the latest from what I can tell when I try to do an online update.
2. After watching footage on my phone for about 4-5 minutes, it times out and I have to refresh and do it again. It stop in landscape mode and goes to the main screen again. Very annoying and feels under developed.

Anyone got a solution to these issues and are these general issues with Hikvision?

Alas the online update check from NVR isn’t what I would call reliable way of checking it’s up to date.

Your saying there is a day before all the slots of your recorded footage show on the calendar?

The time out unfortunately is to limit how long you an access footage on a phone as it uses a cloud connection so millions of people viewing 8mp recorded footage is a strain on resources.

You can setup a profile that connects directly to your NVR via its external ip address, or internal ip address using a vpn for remote access.

Then the time out would not apply.
