hit and miss underpinning

Can red bricks be shuttered in with the mortar to save on the quantity of concerete.
Potentially a lot of concerete so wanting to save by bulking up.
 
not sure what your talkin about but the answer is probly no.

Do you intend to add the old brick into the concrete you are placing?

I guess the underpinning would have a spec for the concrete strength.

I wouldnt advise adding hardcore it would reduce the strength.

Ballast is only about £40 / bag or less would it make much difference to the cost?

Dont forget to pack the top with dry mix after.....
 
Yeah, throw some cardboard boxes and empty coke cans in too, they are cheap and will save you money.
