Ive got me Hive thermostat wired to a viessmann 050w boiler 3 years old. I ve had the hive system go off a few times a year which just took a batteries out/in reboot controller fix, and it came back on and controlled boiler again. However over the last 3 months we have found for example the set temperature on the controller is 21 degrees and the boiler should turn and it doesnt turn the heating/boiler on. Theres no error saying connection problems , theres no red light on the hive boiler control unit , the hive modem is green , so everything looks good. However once again take the batteries out and back in to reboot the remote controller and instantly the boiler comes back on.
I do have the wifi enabled on the boiler so the Viessmann app can track any errors but viessmann say you can have the wifi enabled and the boiler wired for hive control it wont affect the control.
Weve changed the batteries in the remote hive controller but this is still happening.
Any ideas ??

Best bet for you would be to call hive technical.
Don't bother with Viessmann technical... They're not very customer centric IYKWIM.

Does the light come on the Hive receiver stating heating on? If yes, could be the switch live part of the receiver

I had a thermostat, not hive, and the indicator said battery was OK, but it would not switch on, swapped battery, and worked OK again, seems it did not like batteries with a low voltage, even if not showing as discharged.

Hive thermostats are fairly complicated devices so must be more prone to failure that simple programmable thermostats like the Salus ones.
Salus thermostats are often criticised on this forum, but I have one with a portable thermostat unit which communicates with the wired in switch unit by bluetooth. I've never had any trouble with it.
Of course I can't turn my heating off and on, or up and down in temperature using a mobile phone app, but then I've never felt the need to do this, preferring to interact with the heating when I'm actually in my house!
