Hob igniter shock

Hi, my partner's son has told me he occasionally gets a shock from the igniter on his gas hob. Apparently, a couple of years back there was a water leak from the flat above onto the hob. Not sure if that has any connection and unfortunately I dont know the make or model.

Igniters typically work at 25 to 30Kv, so if he is putting his finger near the ignition gap - it is no surprise that he should get a shock.
 
Don't think he's doing that, just seems to be when he presses the button, and I'm not sure that it happens every the time
