Hi i'm currently fitting a electric ceramic hob over a built under double oven. Neither the hob or oven mention ventilation or anything in the installation material. Is there any problem with doing this, as the hob will be almost sitting directly on top of the oven. Would this be ok or would there need to be a cm odd gap between the two.

There will be a cabinet dimension drawing or instructions stating gaps.
Yes you can do it.
What are make/model of what you are fitting.

Thanks for your reply. The oven is zanussi and the hob is Samsung C61R2AEE and the oven is a zanussi built under double oven. I will need to check the model number when i get home.

I think you will find there is information either based on min cab dimensions or space to allow for ventilation.

Years ago cookers were sold as built under, with a choice of hobs & a cabinet as a package.

built in ovens require minimal ventilation, to be honest. They have a circulation system that prevents the outer walls of the appliance becoming too hot. And hobs have a cool base.

Just make sure there is a base vent in the plinth, and then at the top of the oven, just below the worktop, there is a gap, only needs to be about 5mm.

Have a look on the web site,(its a good one) it does say to install follow the instructions supplied.
So there were fitting instructions originally. I could only find user instructions, not installation instructions. There is a contact them, so why not email them with both model numbers.

I agree with what Steve has said, but you should know what the manufacture states, else you have invalidated your warranty.
