i'm currently fitting a kitchen and have noticed that there is a small hole that is leaking on the soil stack in the corner. Its on the waste pipe piece join as you can see a drip of orange coloured rust running from it in the pic. I did clean the inside of this pipe out (over 50 years of kitchen sink waste) with sand paper as the clinker had built up quite a lot.

Its not possible to replace this pipe with a plastic one so i need to know a good way to repair this. I did try cleaning the area and putting a large blob of silicone over it but it just leaked through this within a few days.

Any ideas guys?

There's a metal plastic stuff made for plumbers, haven't a clue what called, (maybe plastic metal) I saw it in Wickes.

Give me a while if no-one comes to our rescue, and I'll try and find it.

Failing that, if you know someone with a mig welder you could weld it with bronze rod.

there is stuff called copperstick, ironstick, etc

snap off a bit mix it together and apply to pipe?

we used to use Belzona

Think it's used for car repairs so should be ok. You could also try a 2-part plumbing repair putty. Personally, I'd be inclined to drill a slightly larger hole out carefully to give the resin you're going to try something to spread through and gain purchase on the reverse side.

I stand corrected. Just had vague memories of something called "plastic" something or other which I used to use on my first car (an old vw golf) just prior to its mot's.

I'm getting tired and missed something you said op. You said you cleaned the inside of the pipe out, which suggests that you can gain relatively easy access inside, in which case being able to use the product doitall inside as well as out would probably get a better result

I could roll up a piece of sand paper and roll it around inside the opening but that was about it. I cant really do that now as all the kitchen sink waste pipe has been fitted.

i'm going to go with the plasteel stuff and drill the hole a bit wider to allow more of the resin through.

Cheers for your help guys! :)
