Hi
I am looking to put a gas hole in the wall fire in, a guy from the fire shop came around and said, if i raise the front lintle and expand the width of the opening to the size of the fire box he will fit the fire for me.

If i raise the front lintle, and cut out the hole it will mean chopping out all of the throat on the side, which doesnt seem the best idea.

The house is 1970's with the chimney on the outside with a naorrws chimney breast inside.

Any help appriciated

Ty

Not sure what your problem is?
Once the hole is made for the fire, he will test to make sure there's enough draw for the fumes in the flue before installing the gas fire.
Depending on the fire, he may need to fit a liner to the flue.
Whatever the outcome of the tests, if you make a hole for the fire to fit, trust him to make sure the fire is safely fitted.
He is CORGI registered?
If so, sleep tight.
If not, panic! ;)
