hi, my wife really wants to get a hole in the hole type fireplace. the only problem (and it is quite a large problem) is that we dont have a chimney breast to put one in.

i was wondering if it would be possible and safe ( without a costing a fortune) to build a kind of fake chimney breast in order to fit a hole in the wall fireplace?? we currently have the standard inset gas fire and flue.

thanks

Have you found the fire you wish to purchase?
If so get the spec on the dimensions and the hole size required, it could be possible that the fire may fit in to the wall, without building out.
I had the standard freestanding gas fire on a flat wall with chimney.
had no problem fitting a hole in the wall one just a few alterations to the hole size, nothing major and fit nicely.
