Im thinking of restoring a victorian fireplace in my house, The chimney breast in question is currently used with an open fire in thedining room below,

Is it ok to open the chimney breast in my bedroom and install a fireplace, that i might use vary occasionally? Im just wondering if it would affect the draw of the chimney for the fire downstairs

Thanks

Andy

it will not affect the fireplace below as they will be independent flues.

in fact, warming the flue may even help the draw on the lower fireplace.

Independant flues? Is that the metal tube that goes up the chimney? would i need to install a flue on the reclaimed fireplace if i wanted to use it? If I didnt want to use it then i can just make the opening fit it in and make good the plaster is that right?
