holes in coving

hi - had house rewired recently, there are some holes in the coving about 4" x 4" where the wiring came down from above, how do i fill up these holes and smooth them them down to the same level as the coving ?..its solid plaster type coving..ta

Sounds a bit of a drastic thing to do. :rolleyes: A picture would be useful if possible GG.
 
Tack a batten to the wall butted up to the bottom edge of the coving (dont nail into your new wires) fill out with a few coats of one coat plaster and then apply a layer or two of easy fill over the top using a 6" or wider filling blade, remove batten and apply a coat or two of easy fill iver the bottom edge then lightly sand until you get an acceptable finish.

Im willing to explain to the sparkys how to install cables without trashing coving too!!
