I have a brick outbuilding with a tiled roof. I was up on the roof on Saturday installing a satellite dish and I noticed that the ridge tiles have a small hole in the centre of each one (maybe 1/4 inch dia.)

Is this normal/desirable? It seems to me it would let rain in onto the membrane and/or beam thats underneath the ridge tiles.

Ventilation? Might be an idea to give your local roofing company a ring and see what they say.
