I want to place a coat hook on a hollow door. Do these appear suitable to you? I don't actually see how they could possibly work and they just look like ordinary wall plugs to me. Should I opt for something more expensive?

Edit: I found these Plasplugs which are of a similar price per unit. However the reviews suggest that toggle fixings are better. The toggle fixings that I found on eBay are all marketed for use on hollow walls however. Please advise.

The average hollow domestic door will only have veneer of around 3mm thick, so whichever fixing you use, they need to accommodate that.
Toggle bolts may have a thread that is so long that it penetrates the door from the other side when it is tightened up, and they need a larger entrance hole anyway.
Consider the smallest hollow wall anchor that you can get (but these don't end up perfectly flush with the door veneer) or use one of the proprietary plugs that spread out once the screw is tightened.
Drilling the hole of the exact diameter is important, and a squirt of PVA glue does no harm either.
John :)
