Hello all, I have a question which I'm hoping I can gain some information from here. I have recently removed an old oil tank which sat upon a 3 walled coal bunker. I'm hoping to build in into a BBQ somehow. I was hoping to simply ply the top and tile it with ceramic tiles (after the correct dimensions for a bbq were cut out. i was thinking of buying a drum bbq and have it sit within the top surface but im unsure of how to secure it and what heat protection would be needed.

any info would be much appreciated to get me started.

I do not think that ply will be strong enough, it will bow at the open end, nor will it last very long outside. I would go in for a 3" thick cast in-situ reinforced concrete.
