Unfortuantly fly-wheels do not make for great batteries for majority of applications.
Best for cases where you want both high power and fast discharge.

There were trials using flywheel energy storage to power buses in Switzerland.

That was a perfect example of the advanatages of a flywheel as a battery - used for the 4km gaps between plylons.
But not suitable for the whole journey.

They also highlighted some of the disadvantages - gyroscopic effect, and requirment of higher speeds (that will need a vacumn).
