Can anyone please advise how I can get about 6 drawer fronts to stay on please on some self-assembled Homebase drawers? The clicky in type screw doesn't seem to be fixing them so can I just nail the drawer fronts back on somehow? I've no doubt it's user error and nothing wrong with the drawers as it's happened on three different pieces of furniture. Advice - as simple as possible please! - would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Some photos would be a good idea. Someone might be able to tell you where you are going wrong. I can't see that nailing them on is going to be a good thing though.

Thanks Dave. Will post photos on the weekend then. Cheers!

Apologies for delay. I've been caught up in work. I will post photos on weekend of 18/19 June.

Apologies for the delay.

Photos of one of the drawers attached. Any insight would be most appreciated.

It's seriously tempting to just pull them apart and try again with Gorilla glue and a clamp or two but I know I need to know what I've done wrong. IMG_20160618_211822_BURST001_COVER.jpg IMG_20160618_211728.jpg

The clicky in screw is actually a cam - insert the metal peg into the drawer side panel then turn the inside part with an allen key to lock the peg in place.

They are crap drawers though and reassembling from scratch with plywood bottoms, glue, and reinforcing at the corners is about the only option if you want them to last more than 5 minutes.

Thanks Owain. I had done that (turned the cam) but clearly I hadn't done a good job. You are right they are crap.

Can you please tell me what you mean about reinforcing the corners though - how should I do it?

You can use metal L brackets inside or outside (outside is better) or quarter round dowelling and screw through the drawer from the outisde into the dowelling.

Thanks again Owain. Should I use L brackets top and bottom on the outside of the back and inside of the front or is that OTT?

Probably 1 bracket at the back will be okay - you just need to hold the corner together. On the front the forces when opening the drawer will tend to pull out fixings into the drawer front, so you might want 2 at each side.

Btw, I don't need any more help on this thread so it can be closed if that's what happens here. All the help was much appreciated and I now have some very sturdy drawers! I've also turned off email notifications now.
