As Stem has said, it's most likely a wiring issue, but you need a multimeter and the ability to use it correctly to find out what does what. The picture you've posted isn't the whole wiring centre, there must be another one somewhere that this connects to. I fear you may be a bit out of your depth here...time to call a pro?

I suspect those of us that do this for a living could nail it in under an hour (OP's tinkering notwithstanding).
Had a fun one last week - nearly 40 rads, hot water, two boilers all operating on OpenTherm (yes you can have two boilers with OpenTherm and a single Evo unit
).
Whole Evo install took a couple of hours from scratch converting from S-Plan plus. Checked in on the boilers remotely this morning and they're purring like kittens.

.MVs do not need removing, just take the heads off
DIN rail- you are joking me thinks, some systems do not even have room thermostat even though that is a BC requirement never mind the required 3A fuse link in the spur which often is 13amp spur unit comes with

Thanks so much for your support. I only moved in in February, the previous owners had it from new (Dec 15) - I don’t know why they didn’t complain unfortunately!
It looks like I’ll end up getting it sorted by a professional - would you recommend a Central Heating Engineer, or will a standard electrician / plumber do?

For God's sake don't get an electrician involved!!!!
Look on the Honeywell Find an Installer website. Hopefully there will be a "Connected Specialist" within range. We have gold badges. If not, a connected installer (silver badge) should be fine, but make sure you explain the situation to them up front.
Failing that, a decent heating engineer should be able to sort it out, but again, be upfront with what you've got. Expect 1 to 3 hours for the works. Assuming you have everything in place component wise.
