Hello there I'm wondering if someone could help me with a bit of wiring, where do they go and do I need to add anything?

This is the honeywell box wiring on the rear of the wall behind thermostat

Assuming that your last picture is the back plate of an existing Honeywell programmer / timeswitch [You call it a Honeywell box] then you can put the Hive straight on to it after you have modified the wiring slightly, and provided that you have the single channel version of the Hive.

The old dial thermostat is disconnected by tracing the cable from the thermostat back to its origin. And identifying the Black and Brown wires that are connected to the thermostat terminals 1 & 3. Which I suspect will be the ones I've marked with a circle below.

If my assumption is correct, remove the cable to the thermostat and all of its wires completely. Then the remaining black wire in the loose screw connector goes to the backplate terminal (3) marked 'Heating on' in the Hive instructions.

However, you also need to do some remedial work to he wiring. None of the coloured wires should extend outside of the back plate. Only the outer sheath should be visible when the Hive receiver is in place. The cables should also be physically secured either with cable clips or installed in trunking so that the wires are not relying solely for support on their electrical connections, and not hanging loose where they could be snagged or pulled.

Thanks mate, yeah it seems the engineer that fitted this boiler didn't care too much for neatness. I'll redo it and do away with the honeywell timer. Thanks for your help, much appreciated
