Hoover AB130-001 Severe vibration

Hi
my washing machine exibits the following 2 symptoms
1. an occasional grating sound when running a wash program
2. Severe vibration to the point where the machine can move up 15 cm
when doing a high speed spin.

Spinning the drum by hand does not cause any unusual noises.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

grating sound implies something is loose, but you said drum is quiet when moved by hand.

sevre vibration is caused by out of balance, have you checked the weights (top and bottom) are secure? and in one piece
