Hi

We've had this for about 3 years, and generally OK. Occasionally get the E03/E20 code, clean the filter and al is good, have had to unblock drain pipe, and drum hose before. Usually not that much gunk in the filter.

But late last weeks getting continual E03/E20 codes - not draining. Cleaned and checked the filter a few times, cleaned drain pipe all the way back to the 4" soil pipe, can blow down the WM drain hose and clearly hear it bubble. Today pulled the WM out cleaned out the drum to pump hose (lots of scale), checked drain hose isn't kinked but still throwing E03 code, though it has been through a couple of times, it also does the spin/drain cycle OK. Can hear the pump running, and impellor seems attached to the motor OK.

I'm sure I've checked everywhere for blocks, so open to suggestions. My thought is either a lazy pump, but it sounds enthusiastic enough, or could the pressure switch pipe be blocked.

Appreciate any ideas?

Can you turn the pump impeller and nothing around it like an elastic band.
Nothing blocking pipes like sludge.
We switched to powder because of sludge build up.
If all good swap pump may fix. Easy job on most machines.
Your can often lay machine on side and swap pump..
Pumps fail and can be intermittent.
Normally stop and machine is full of water.
Sometimes they work and water is pumped out.
Many pumps fail round 5 years old although some last 10+ years.
Just a lottery plus it depends on use.

Yes pressure pipe blocked might cause it or even a faulty switch, but wouldn't expect it to be so intermittent. Try blowing down the pipe as you did with the waste, you should hear bubbling again.

Don't blow in the sensor.
Only blow to clear in the direction of the drum.
Pressure switch is sensitive and blowing in it will kill it.
I changed mine and everything was good for about a week then it's failed to empty again.
I also had lots of sludge in pipes around pump that I cleared and again everything worked for about a week.
I think the pump was just failing and lacking power on some washes causing fault.

Hi, Bit of an update. So firstly thank you for all the helpful responses, and secondly hope this will help others if they get this problem.

In short it lives again! Problem turned out to be a blocked pipe for the pressure switch. The drain cycle was timing out and throwing up the E03/20 code because the pressure switch was tricked by the blockage into thinking the drum still had water in it.

Symptoms now make sense, filter was clean, little residual water when filter removed, and the final part which I wish I'd known before was when the wife casually mentioned today that the water seemed higher in the drum than normal when on the wash cycle....

As above don't blow into the pressure switch, just the pipe disconnected from the switch that goes to the drum.
