1989 Hoover Logic 1300 (A3790) washing machine functions normally through all washing modes but fails to spin in either 500 or 1300 rpm mode. Drum level pot checked & cleaned ok. Motor brushes checked & ok. Could motor be u/s ? or is this a controller fault ie no spin signal ? N.B. this m/c has been frequently serviced (brushes, level pot, heater, de-sludge...etc) over previous 10 - 15 years.

Not sure if yours has it but some of the Logics have a microswitch mounted on the back of the drum toward the top. The wires to this switch are prone to breaking due to vibration.

Firstly, thank you for your suggestion. All help is greatfully received.
Microswitch is fitted and is normally closed(?).
Yellow/white and yellow/black wires appear intact, and continuity appears good down to Texas instruments motor speed control board (?) adjacent to motor. Could this board be knackered ?

Those speed control modules just have a number of different resistors which are switched in to get different speeds so if they operate the motor at any stage it usually means they are OK. It could be a timer fault, in which case it may not be cost effective to repair such an elderly appliance.
