Not sure about efficiency , just wanted to add that in the UK horizontal are frowned upon, but go on holiday to Spain and you will see them everywhere, as said I dont know , call the manu and ask them they should know

Stratification and recovery times would be the main issue with horizontals... Plus the extra cost.
But, with "space" at a premium, in most UK homes and an ever increasing desire for a room in the loft, you have to do what you have to do.
