So I'm planning to move my outdoor aircon unit which runs at 15a. It is currently wired by means of an SWA cable to an isolating switch and then ongoing rubber cable ho7rn-f to the appliance itself.

I want to move the unit 1.5M to where that blue plastic and plant pots are currently. It is definitely a little used side of the house (hence the rubbish building up there).

Obviously the easiest thing would be to just run a slightly longer length or rubber cable clipped to the house (method a). But at waist height it in theory could get damaged. So should I instead fit an swa junction box where the existing switch is and then run a new length of swa to a new switch on top of the new aircon unit (method b)?

The first method (clipping new ho7ny rubber to the wall) is obviously less work but is it good enough?

P.S. As I'm writing this I'm thinking to do it "properly". I suppose the rolls royce solution (method c) would be to remove the existing swa and replace it with a longer length. That _really_ would be a ballache.

I would fit an ip56 adaptable box where the isolator is

Extend in swa to new isolator position
I'll ask which side you would most likely approach from, I prefer the isolator to be on the way in & out however at that distance it hardly seems worth the effort putting a joint in.

Hmm not quite sure what you’re asking me

If you’re saying there’s there’s no need to relocate the isolator I was aware of that as an option

Oops. Poor editing on my part.

The question is for OP to assess where the most likely access to this is from as my preference is to reach the isolator before I reach the appliance..

Some very high quality comments there - many thanks. Who says everything is going on reddit and facebook? It seems only the trolls have gone.

You would normally access it from the far side from the camera so that is perhaps another vote in favour of moving it. And very good point about it not being ideal above the appliance like that.

Ericmark, I don't think I'm going to get into fgas on this thread but the unit supports pump down.....

Of course another solution would be to add a second isolator which would hardly disturb the existing
