Help.

Over the past few days the hot water from the bath tap has been getting less and less, and this morning, all I can say was it was dribbling out. The bathroom sink works perfect ok.

Any Ideas as to what the problem is, before I call someone in.

Thanks

Scasle etc masking the hot tap bind. Easy to fix once the water's off

Hi Chris

What does that mean to a girl who can just about fix a plug????

Can I do it, or do I need a man, who will change be large amounts od dosh?

Either scale build-up inside the tap, or failed tap washer.

In both cases, water feed from hot water cylinder or combi boiler should be switched off (either by closing valve next to cylinder, or switching combi off and closing cold feed into it), and (assuming you have separate hot & cold taps, not a mixer), the head of the hot tap removed, and either cleaned out or washer replaced. Should be straightforward.

You'll need;
Screwdriver or similar tool to get cover off top of tap
Screwdriver to remove tap handle
Cloths to mop up any water spillage
Suitable size spanner or wrench to remove tap headwork
Replacement washer if appropriate / cleaner to remove scale

Less than an hour's work, maybe? (assuming no problems)

If still any questions, post again here

Regards, Graham

Thanks Graham

I will have a go over the next few days.

I have one of those taps with sep hot & cold tap, but one big spout so they come our together, and also a handle, so you can turn it from bath to hand held shower. Will this make a difference???

Thanks v much

Hi Kev.

Both the cold water tank and the copper tank are in the loft. if that helps?

Thanks

Thanks for all help everyone.
Got man out in end, all it was that the foam from the cylinder in the loft came down the pipe blocking the water from getting thru.
£50.00 for 5 mins work...

I will remember to check the loft nexttime.
