Hi, trying to replace thermostat on my copper water heater, but can't find the same size anywhere. the heater element is 3kw in a 0 shaped holder(as opposed to o shaped) fitted to the side of the boiler, fastened with 4 bolts, the stat is a 5" long cylinder shape. It's probably really old as its temps are 100-160 fahrenheit. I need to replace as i can hear it boiling at night.

no make on the cylinder, but the stat is a sunvic TQB-1201. Have seen a surface mount cylinder thermostat, would this be an acceptable substitute?

if its of any use the plastic element cover has the name dunlow. Its actually an immersion heater linked to a timer on economy 7 - no CH in house. Am i being daft thinking i can simply bypass the element stat to a cylinder stat. Please help, the wife's starting to complain as i've left her with no hot water.
