I had a bust hot water pipe, after i fixed it there was no water running from the taps, A google search led me to believe that it was an airlock so I tried fixing the issue using the cold water pressure into the hot tap line. This worked and i now have a full flow of water.

I found that the hot water tank is warm half way up but not at top as are some pipes going in/out of it. but the water coming out off the taps stay cold! can anyone help me with this. thanks

The expansion pipe that is bending in over the top of your tank in the loft is dipping into the water and causing it to syphon cold water through the hot taps may be.
