Hot water not working

i do apologise, the pipe on top of the cylinder without the valve comes from the 3 way valve and gets hot, the other one with the valve goes through the floor.

i would say it blocked or airlocked.

trouble with that valve aswell is that it has a small internal bore and will restrict the flow.

ok, i will try and find air block. i understand the new valve does need replacing it was a needs must situation, however the ch is working fine, it is the hw that is not.

i would put some towels around the top of the cylinder.
shut that valve.
slacken the nut under the valve and let the water trickle out
that'll prove its not blocked and should clear any air.

The CH will be working fine if that valve is at fault.

From I've seen/read, it looks as if the valve is either blocked or restricting the flow through your coil. The upshot of this would be no hot water.

you say you have two air vents.
if you have one on each pipe.
shut the 3 port valve to hw so its on heating only and open the bleed valve near the 3 port valve then it will pull water from the other direction
through the cylinder to the air vent and should release any air.

this sounds like a good idea however I do not know what position the lever should be in, I have just moved it from one side to the other and then the middle and did not know what for.
