I have a mixer tap in the bath - the cold water runs properly but the hot water barely runs at all and reduces to virtually nothing once it has heated. I also have a Gainsborough 950 shower fitted would the fitting of this affect the hot water ? It has been like this since I moved in.

Where does your hot water come from ?
Assuming its from a tank and cylinder then you could have an airlock or another blockage in the hot water line somewhere or it could be that you need a new hot tap 'gut' or inner mechanism on your mixer. This would be indicated by the tap not opening very far and being stiff in operation. Sometimes you can strip the tap inner down and re-grease it, often the circlip has broken on top of the shaft. You can tell if it is that by pulling the head of the tap up with the tap open to see if it alters the flow

Cheers for swift replies :) If the hot water is running ok at the sink would that suggest it is the mixer ?

Sort out the P.C. bit first
Kitchen = sink
Bathroom = basin

A kitchen sink is usually on the ground floor and therefore has more head of water than a basin so thats why I am clarifying it

So if you have good flow at your basin then the problem is likely to be with the bath mixer.
