Hi there

We've a mixer shower (about 6 months old) that was a replacement for a previous mixer shower that eventually gave up due to limescale!

Every now and again the hot water pressure will drop and the shower is not as powerful as it normally is. Strange thing is that the pressure will be fine for a good month or two and then will drop without warning.

I've been in the loft and checked the water tank and the ballcock seems to be working fine so it looks like the water system is fine.

I've read that the cold water tank needs to be at least a metre from the top of the shower head. Our house was built in 1997 and the shower head unit and rail hasn't been moved.

This did happen with the old shower but we put that down to the limescale and age.

Any ideas or tips?

Cheers

Karl

It could just be a build-up of limescale in the shower head itself. I find ours needs a reguler clean every couple of months otherwise the internals of the shower head get clogged with scale. A regular descale with something like Harpic does the trick to restore full flow.
