Hot water problem. Halstead Ace High

My Ace High combi boiler works ok for central heating, but the hot water has developed a problem. The water runs hot intermittantly, then cold. I also notice the hot water light never comes on.
Does anyone recognise this problem and have any suggestions?

Well, I think the problem has been solved - embarrassingly simply by looking at an old, similar post.

"The problem is that when you turn the hot water tap on the burner won't fire up and the water comes out cold . Unless you put the hot water tap ON FULL it will then work and hot water will come out. "

In my case I have to run it cold for 10 seconds, then the boiler kicks in, then another 1/2 minute for the hot water to emerge.
