There are no other symptoms apart from when I switch off the shower it sounds like a kettle boiling!!

Is there a standard type of replacement for the heater can for most showers?

In that case, to extend its life, turn down the temperature when you've finished showering and run it cool for about 10 seconds before you turn it off.

No - you have to get the correct can for your make/model of shower.

The manufacturer should be able to sort you out. Or, try here:
