Hot water system

Help!!
Changed two isolator valves on my power shower today.Turned the mains water off and drained the hot water tank. Installed two new gator valves, one for hot and one for cold. Turned the mains water back on and waited for the hot water cylnder to refill. Turned any of the hot water taps on and just get a quick burst and then nothng. Been trying all day to find out why. Have i done something wrong and if so how do i put it right PLEASE.

Air lock, if you have a mixer tap on any of your sinks turn the hot on first then cup your hand tightly over the spout but with enough room to let water past then turn cold tap on so it will then go up the hot pipe and push the air out.
If no mixers connect connect hot and cold tap with a hose or something and force it .
Or if you have a washing machine connect the 2 filling valves with washing machine hose
