Hi
Also posted in plumbing but no responses.

I'm getting an unvented HW cylinder put in the attic. It was intended to site it on the existing platform where the cold water tank is just now. However, if this is done, the new tank will foul on a bar at the roof apex.

Can the bar be removed? If not, the platform will need to be lowered so what is the best way to construct a platform of minimum height?

For info:

The bar is approx 2*1 inch

The tank is 210 litres, 510mm diameter and 1500 tall. It will weigh approx 250kg when full.

The bar can probably be removed provided alternative roof support is provided, for which you would really need a structural engineer to advise.

Do not just remove it as it might affect the stability of the whole roof.

Could I move it down about a foot or even add two, one either side about half way up to maintain stability?
