Hotpoint BWD1200 Washer Dryer Pump constantly blocking

I have been to my friends house 4 times this week with the same fault.
Pump Blocked. I clear the pump and all seems to be OK. Then when the machine has next wash the same things happen. The pump seems to be constantly getting blocked with small items such as hair bands.
My question is - if anyone can help. Sould the pump flush these items through without causing problems, or could there be a problem with the drum / seal that is causeing the problem.
The pump appears to be in good order.
Friend now informs me that the washer is in cycle and water is escaping through the door and dispenser drawer.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

its to wash clothes not hairbands, coins etc.

small light weight objects such as buttons will go through no problem but stingy / heavy stuff wont

the other problem she has is its over filling.

look in the sticky for me, (breezer) and a HP w/m its similar set up, look for the pressure chamber, sounds like hers is blocked, or pipe come off from it to door release or pressure switch

Four times this week and it's only Monday, must be a record! Sounds like a bit more care is needed when loading the machine so only the washing gets washed.

if its coming out of door and despenser id say sump is blocked sock or small item.remove filter and see

Had to go out again, same problem pump impeller snagged up again with material. Decided to dive in and remove the rubber sump,as suggested.
Found a large piece of stringy material jammed in there. Material must have been breaking up causing the pump seize up.
