can anyone help with a ctd00 that has developed a fault causing the whole house to trip out at the fuse box RCD.

I have had the sides off and vacumed thoroughly but don't know where else to start.

we did have an engineer out for the same fault once but it rectified itself as he took the back off so it was never diagnosed properly.

has anyone heard of this before?

thanks

never fear! fixed it.

took the rear heater panel off and it was very damp. bit of work wih a hairdryer put it all back together again thoroughly clean the condenser and away she goes!

saved on getting a bandit engineer out anyway!

Had exactly the same trouble with mine, several times, but a little bit more serious. The cardboard based boards that the heater coils are wrapped round got so damp that two of the four had broken in the middle and made them sag, so when the dryer starts up, the air blast (suction) actually pulls the coils in and shorts them out on the reflector panels. A couple of pieces of sticky backed high temperature fibreglass tape wrapped around the the reflector panels sorted this out though. Insulates it a treat and no more shorting. Wonder how much life the dryer has got left in it after all this though. Poor things not even 3 years old yet!
