HOTPOINT CTD80 Condenser Dryer

Have had this about 18 months (from new). Tried to use it earlier, the lights came on as normal and it appeared to start it's cycle but the drum wasn't turning. The heater is working however working which accounted for the smell!!!!

Any advice welcome???

Ok...10 minutes later and I'm back!

Took the top and side panels off, the black cable leading to the motor capacitor has shorted and come detached. Is it safe for me to re-solder it or is it likely the capacitor has caused the wire to short???

Guess I'll try it and see.

Hmmm....soldered the cable and it's working - mostly!

The problem now seems to be that the heating element isn't working. I guess it's possible that it blew when the trum wasn't rotating and cooling the whole thing down???

What can I check??

Just noticed at the end of its cycle it came up with an F-10 message???
