Hi all, got a hotpoint FFA60 which has recently had solid icing across the condensor and the drain hole behind the back panel of the freezer, a couple of inches thick in places.

We defrosted it last night, but is this indicative of a problem with modules or hardware? The ice was a frozen block, like water had built up and just carried on freezing over time.

Also, should the fan started to work instantly when we eventually turned it back on? or does it only work in certain situations?

Thanks.

Yes only works on occasions. Total 24 hr defrost req every 6 months for 24 hrs.
