Can't say for sure with yr Hotpoint but in the past I have replaced a half grill element in my Belling cooker, easy to see what to do once you get the back off. Recently the bottom element went in the top oven, The Element Man had a replacement in stock even though the cooker is now 47 yrs old. Definitely worth a try!
