Hi
I have hotpoint washing machine and from past few weeks its been making strange "tak tak tak" noise during wash and spin cycle. There is nothing stuck in the drum.

Got an engineer to look at it. He advised to change the drum. He says its the problm between spider and drum. When he slightly pushes the spider back there is no noise.

He further advised that he will have to take the machine in the workshop and get it done. I wasnot impressed by the suggestion and have left it there. Can someone please help and advise.

Many thanks
LK

It is difficult to disagree with someone who has actually seen the machine, if you are not happy with his suggestion get a second opinion, preferably from one of Hotpoint's engineers rather than an independent. It could be just a bra wire or something stuck between the inner & outer drums, but they can usual be removed through the drain sump.

Just " repaired" a friends Indesit, poor spin and wet clothes...... turned out to be the transit bolts were still in place, well two of them the third had, over some 15 years knocked out a large hole in the rear cover. Being a little hard of hearing did not noticed any strange sounds.....Any way the washer now spins upto 1400RPM.
