Hotpoint - wdl540g - drain pump runs for 3 seconds only

Hi all

i hope someone can help.


i have a wdl540g hotpoint washer dryer.

it has been been fine for 4 years, and now i have problem. the system does it cycle, but is to the system to drain, the pump works for only 3 seconds or so.

i have checked the following,

the Main pcb seems to be fine
the pump seems to be fine
the voltage from the pump cable is showing 230v for a few seconds, then drops

what could be possibly the problem?

Poss faulty themistor on the heater box. Unplug it if pump runs for longer then it needs a new one.

much appreciated with your prompt reply.

did some further investigation, found that the probe is in working order, and also found that the cable to the probe had snapped due to the heat from the dryer. I shall be repairing that, and I am 99.9% sure it will sort the problem.

Yep that's the problem. It will give a error code on the dry cycle as well.
