It's now about 12 years old and still washes as well as it ever did. I've had to empty the coin collector at the back a few times but mechanically and electrically it's fine.

However for the last year or so (and with increasing frequency lately), pressing the program button and then start results in the usual 3 second delay before locking the door and then the display "greys out", and comes back with "select program". Or sometimes beeps close door and carries on anyway.

Obviously it's a PCB issue. (I'm an electronics engineer) Before I remove it, replace all the electrolytic's, look for dry joints etc, Is this a known issue? I assume (hope) the PCB isn't all surface mount? Any reply welcome.

You got a ribbon matrix behind and it's now obserlete. That's what is faulty.

So.. Fix I can?

Thanks rocks1, I'll update with how I get on.

No the lock wll not cause the display to go blank. The ribbon matrix is faulty , if you look at it it will be corroded its a bit of plastic with copper strips going though it.

Was just maybe thinking that if the display was blank when open then it might think it was open when it was actually shut, I'm no expert just an eliminator lol
